Walking
Some of the best walks are along the coastal paths. There is a delightful 2-mile stroll past St Mawes castle, built by Henry VIII in 1542 and through the fields beside the sea to the 14th Century church of St. Just-in-Roseland, which John Betjeman called 'to some people, the most beautiful churchyard on earth'. A regular ferry during the summer months will take you to the other side of the harbour there are longer walks past the lighthouse, to Porthscatho and beyond. Best to take a picnic from the hotel to enjoy the scenery throughout lunch!
Many destinations can be reached without a car. There is an efficient network of boats and ferries which take visitors to Falmouth, Trelissick Garden or Truro. In the summer months more boats are available to travel as far as the Helford River or to explore the Carrick Roads. However, you can always ask our skipper for a ride on our RIB if you prefer not to travel at scheduled times!
